Meet Mister and Mary

Picture
Mister and I started this journey in 2017 when we realized  that I could work from anywhere and he was ready to move on from the hustle and bustle of the DFW area. After months of looking for the perfect place to capture our dreams we found it in Comfort, Texas.   We love to visit with people when we take road trips, so hosting guests is a the perfect fit.  After moving in and getting a vibe for the place the The Front Porch Inn was born. The house was built in 1926 had has lots of charm. I love all the creaks in the hardwood floors, the wavy glass in the windows and the amazing front porch. We have made a few updates to the inside in the way of paint and decor and are looking forward to working on the gardens.  We would love to invite you to come hang with us on the porch, enjoy a sweet tea, and watch the deer in the front yard during your visits to the Texas Hill Country. We are conveniently located at the crossroads of U.S. Highway 87 and FM 473 in the cute town of Comfort, Texas.

Formally The Carrington House Bed and Breakfast

Picture
The Carrington House B&B was established in 2000. It had been a B&B prior to this but Sandy (the previous owner wanted to create an environment that ensured her guests comfort and she worked hard to enhance the home and the grounds over the years.
The home has a wonderful history, being built in 1926 by Jim Bierschwale for his wife Martha.

According to an interview with Martha Bierschwale that was published in the December 1, 1977 edition of the Comfort News,  Martha was a first generation descendant from the pioneers that settled in the Hill Country. "Martha's father, Otto, was born in Hoexter, Wesphalia, Germany, in August 1832 and arrived in Texas in October 1852. Martha and Jim were married on December 4, 1904. Martha lived in the house for more that 51 years.

You can sense the love and history that is part of the foundation of this special property.
